The emphasis is always on the word NOW! Followed by a declaration of willingness to explore – thereby generating the context for Dialogue.

Through the Affirmation, the intention throughout the experience to discern Truth from False is called into consciousness.

The 5th tool is also referred to as the tool for Creating Meaning Across. The main requirement is a commitment to:
1) Challenge our assumptions continuously.
2) Adopt an attitude of child-like curiosity and the attitude of the scientific explorer: wanting the truth above all other things
3) Express and own any thoughts, judgments and/or beliefs
4) Listen emphatically within ourselves and to another’s being
For the ultimate goal of co-creating shared meaning.

The 5th tool teaches by practice the values of being in a dialogical relationship. The experience is that of challenging our assumptions and tolerating the discomfort that comes from that – likely due to internalized authority figures that could represent the agents of re-traumatization. Using the this tool can help us challenge these belief structures that keep us imprisoned.
The primary goal of the FiveTools is to disconnect one from the false self and connect to the true self.
